CARRIAGE BOLT & NUT

Coach bolts, also commonly known as carriage bolts or cup square hex, are a 'self locking' bolt used for timber to timber construction. The square underneath the head pulls into the timber and means you don't need to hold one side of the bolt with a wrench when tightening.

Coach bolts are mild steel to allow for movement in the timbers over time and ensures the bolts will bend with the timbers and not shear.
